I first have to get a bit of frustration out with Tops coupon policy. I have found that Tops doesn't readily double coupons and sometimes I have to "remind" the cashier to take care of this.
Something to keep in mind is that not all coupons are able to be doubled. Some will obviously say "Do Not Double" and the Catalina coupons will not be doubled. (Catalina coupons are the ones that print out with your receipt).
As a side note I threw those out for years, not thinking anything of it. As I become a coupon user I have found tons of great deals. For the past few weeks a coupon for $4.00 off of a purchase o $40.00 or more has printed out. There are also other great deals to be found on these coupons so check carefully. While some may not be a coupon they may actually be a tip on a great upcoming deal.
Again, I recommend printing the coupon policy for the times that you have to provide friendly reminders to the cashiers. Also, may I point out cashiers and other customers are not all that friendly to the average coupon user. Please be sure to check your coupons to make sure you are purchasing the right products. It is the customers responsibility to be sure they are purchasing the product that matches the coupons.
People in line tend to get irritated with coupon users. I try to shop on days/times where it is not busy. This helps with the slow down of the line (especially if you have a lot of coupons). I also make sure I have all of my coupons ready before hand. I usually "park" myself and my cart in an out of the way spot and double check everything. Remember I use my coupons and sale as as a "pseudo" grocery list.
